About 500 m up the road from my apartment is a palace. The house is surrounded by a huge concrete fence, about 4 to 5 m high which takes up the whole block, and its a big block. At the entrance is a guard house, with those entry bars they raise and lower, and a huge sign saying NO photography allowed. Hence the reason this photo is taken from across the road, behind the hedge. As you pass by you can look up the drive and get a glimpse of the house, beautiful gardens with water fountains etc. Wow. Within a short distance from my apartment are 2 more palaces, that I know of!
I've also included a pic of a house on the hill over looking the village of Al Heyer where my schools are. There are two main buildings, possibly the main house which is in the front with lots of gold and glass. This house is where the family will meet and eat and where the mother receives and entertains her friends. The ladies can relax and not be covered with their shailias. The other house may possibly be for the husband to receive and entertain his male friends. I've just finished reading "Mother Without A Mask", based here in Al Ain.
