Les Girls. Spot the odd one out.

Meet my two ICT teachers, Salama and Amna. They are lovely ladies. Both have young children, both with University degrees, and both speak really fluent English. They are patiently teaching me some Arabic phrases. My school is very conventional, with all the teachers wearing the traditional abaya and headscarf. If you thought the abaya may be an oppressing garment, think again. Each one can be unique with beautiful patterning, embroidery, bling and even in the cut and design. The edging on the headscarves often match the patterning on the abaya. The ladies look gorgeous. We have ladies in school wearing coloured abayas. I learnt that they are Muslim but not from the UAE, so the abaya reflects a little of your own country and culture. Today was a fab day, meeting my teachers, talking with them and beginning to think and talk about planning and classroom practice. I felt excited to be learning beside 2 teachers who are really keen to adapt a new curriculum and do great ICT things. They are really keen to learn about and use KidPIx. One of them went into a shop in Egypt on her holiday to learn more about the programme. Wow teaching with these people just has to be the best.
