Hot off the Press. Flags & National Anthem
Heritage and Culture are a big part of the curriculum here, and is a KPI (miletone requirement) that we have to meet. One of the headlines that ran across the papers this morning was a decree that all schools raise the UAE national flag and play the national anthem at the start of the school day or at morning assemblies. The UAE Government although welcoming Westerners and embracing English has that passion to retain what is theirs and what makes them Emirate, hence the focus on heritage and culture. Personally I will enjoy it and celebrate their culture with them. The people really enjoy hearing you make an attempt to speak Arabic phrases. Ma’a salama. Goodbye.

Great to get a look at the Gulf News. The English speaking version is well done.
Jocelyn,
I am enjoying reading your entries and learning about your experiences. The bonus is viewing the photos.
Cheers,
