Hena Hands

School is back after Eid, and all the females have hena, said heen a. Eid is a festive time and getting hena is all part of that tradition. The ladies get together and paint, or go to a salon to get their hands and feet painted. Its like a dark brown paint that stains the skin, eventually washing off between 10 and 14 days. A NZ equivalent of a tattoo, although not permanent. The hands usually have lines, which is a traditional design or flowers which is post modernist including the finger nails. Both my ICT teachers have flowers, designed and painted by their sisters. Salama was most happy to show her hands for the picture. painted by her very creative sister.
