We have rented a hire car in Ljubljana for the next 3 weeks and will relinquish it in Dubrovnik. This will allow us to get off the beaten tourist track and make the most of visiting and using the numerous national parks throughout Slovenia and Croatia. Instantly I am faced with a double whammy when driving. In this part of the world they use the right side of the road, the same as the UAE and Vietnam, AND this car is manual. It's a very long time since I have driven on the right side of the road and even longer since I have driven a manual car. So far so good.
Lake Bled is the training ground for the Slovenian rowing squads. On one side of the lake they have a very nice facility housing their boats, support craft and very nice launching jetties, which incidentally are available to the public as a recreational swimming area. Right down the lake is a very professional 2 km course laid out, buoys and all.
