For the Anzac Black and Gold ball we stayed in an apartment building on Sheikh Zayed Road, the main atrial route between Dubai and Abu Dhabai. Chelsea Towers was a lovely place to stay, very quiet despite being on Sheikh Zayed Road. The view from my bedroom window on the 28th floor was fantastic. The road below is 16 lanes wide, 8 each way. The metro, the automated monorail runs along side. I could see right out into the Arabian Gulf and Palm Jumeriah. Palm Jameriah is a housing complex built on man made islands, made to look like palm fronds from the air. Do a Google search. I have driven out there a few times and it really is a lovely place.
Chelsea towers is a 32 floor building and we were dwarfed by surrounding buildings. Two across the road are 64 floors high. Also from my window I could see Burj Khalifa, currently the tallest building in the world.
This afternoon we drove out to Dubai Mall the most luxurious mall I have been into over here. Dubai Mall is built in the base of Burj Khalifa, where you can do a tour and ride almost to the top. Initially when the Burj opened tours were free and this caused so many traffic jams and problems they had to shut the tours down. The authorities have re-opened with a different approach. If you book in advance the tour is 100 AED, an instant rock up and buy tickets costs 400 AED. Tours run every 30 mins and you get to book your tour time. The sun setting/ early evening tours were booked out for today, but the late at night ones were still available. Guess what's on my list of to dos!

How nice to be a cloud,
Floating at the 24th....
I bet the room did not have an open balcony! Imagine the fun you could have in learning to fly on the way down.
That Dubai Mall is great. Did you like the huge aquarium? We also liked the diving men fountain/water feature. Most impressive.
