Last night I went down to Dubai to attend the Black and Gold Ball/ ANZAC commemorations. The ballroom at the Grand was filled with 500 Australians and New Zealanders. On arrival there was a military presence and we all got issued with a poppy which was then pinned to our clothing. The evening began with a small service and a minutes silence which was lovely, and rather special. All these ANZAC's came together for a function and remembrance on this side of the world. Following on from that was of course a trivia quest, not pitting the Aussies against the Nzers, for once we were combined, but general ANZAC type questions. Richard my boys school boss who is Australian, won a mixed case of wine, which we will drink on the last day of the semester...... at his house and not the school. There is a dawn service in Dubai but sadly as dawn rises so shall I, on my way to school for yet another week of work.

Good to see those red Anzac poppies. There has been a bit of a kerfuffle here over white poppies being sold by the Peace Corps.Popping up all over,
Good to see your patriotic side is showing. That event must have been quite something.
