During my ICT class this afternoon there was quite a loud cracking noise and several of the floor tiles lifted. A few minutes more it happens again, so it's time to evacuate the children. While the situation wasn’t dangerous, one can’t be too sure. After another few minutes I have a line of tiles all lifted, running through the middle of my room. The maintenance staff arrived after school, and have begun the long and rather loud process of lifting the tiles, the floor cement and retrieving the tiles that can be used again.
There is no explanation as to why the tiles have lifted, it all This seems a common occurrence in Vietnam. Perhaps the heat causes expansion, and the tiles pop. other theories floating around is that the buildings are built in such a pace that the concrete structures aren't given the time to set and age. I'm not a builder. However we did have a simliar problem of the tiles gradually lifting in UAE. There are similarities with the building process and both countries
What is not a common occurrence in Vietnam is the health and safety equipment and procedures. The workman have no ear muffs, no steel capped work boots and no protection for the electrical cords they are drilling with. What is common in Vietnam is the efficiency in which these guys work and the conditions under which they work. I now have cement and water in my room, and the rubble is being swept up and carted away in plastic bags. tonight the job will be done.life will be back to normal tomorrow and I won’t have understood a single work the maintenance team spoke to me.
