Viewing a different culture through my Western eyes is an interesting phenomena. Comparing cultures brings up that old adage “Same same but different”. At break time 3 girls from Year 5 were playing chopsticks. It’s not the piano version, but the knucklebone version. They use, in this case, a tennis ball to throw into the air, and they use chopsticks instead of knuckle bones. You throw the tennis ball and grab one chop stick before catching the ball again. Next throw of the ball it’s two chopsticks and so on. Simple, but very effective, especially when you have a collection of chopsticks in your home. Lamb is not a meat that you find on the menus around Vietnam, so gathering a collection of knucklebones poses a number of problems. Using resources on hand …… chop sticks is the obvious solution. Same game but different equipment.

sounds like a great idea for indoors on a wet day. I wonder if my 5 year olds could cope?
