You can tell it's Christmas time in Ho Chi Minh city. I walked to the market on Friday evening to discover all these small shops along the street have morphed into shops selling Christmas decorations and Christmas trees. Remind me to go back next year and see what they were originally. Or perhaps they rotate like the sun, depending on what commercial factor and season will influence their sales. Sitting on one street corner was a chap making decorations, and the "green fur" for the Christmas trees. Some pliers, thin wire a cigarette lighter and the dexterity of his fingers were the only tools he had , plus the green fur and he was constructing wreaths and trees to name a few. I'll go back and try and get a photo. Even ordinary shop windows have tinsel and decorations. Considering Vietnam is very much a Buddhist country with a Catholic influence and the occasional Catholic church, the Western influence and commercialism is alive and well in Ho Chi Minh City.
My challenge today is to buy myself a Christmas tree......a Vietnamese Christmas tree.. that I can bring home to NZ. Better than an elephant!

Will it have Vietnamese ornaments or do you have a selection of NZ themed ones? Looking forward to the photo of the tree maker.
