Today was the International parade at my other campus, An Phu 1. Some of the teachers really put a great deal of effort into their costumes. I wore my Ma is white, whero is red coloured t shirt and the NZ flag as a skirt. The Kindy teachers dressed up, as you can see from Emily's Welsh daffodil dress. Emily had this made by a local woman tailor for 200,000 Dong which included the fabric, the tulle in the skirt and the sewing. The princely sum of $60 NZ. Most impressive were all the Vietnamese teachers wearing their traditional dress the Ao dai, pronounced "our eye". The Ao dai is a long shift type dress split up the side to just over the waist. Underneath they wear a contrasting coloured pair of satin trousers. They look stunning. Photos here of Giang "Yang" who works in a year 2 class and brings me soya milk every Thursday and Friday. Also is Uyen "Win" my teaching assistant on the 2 days I work in AP1. Today East met West and we celebrated the differences and the similarities at the end of a fantastic week.
