Programming and using BeeBots is part of the ICT curriculum at my school. For the remainder of the term, Year 1 and 2 classes are enjoying a variation in ICT and using the BeeBots. Bee Bot technology is quite extensive and the school has purchased the computerised application, floor maps and enough hands on little bees for each student to have one in the class. Currently we are just exploring the hand held machines and exploring commands. Today year 2 were just a picture of delight, whooping, jumping around, clapping and cheering and just enjoying the response of the BeeBot to their programming. Tue and I will set up little mazes and eventually the students will have to programme and guide their BeeBots through. However before that we are just learning simple programming, and of course the difference between left and right, forward and backwards.
I'd like to use BeeBots further up the school as well. The thinking component is huge and programming a Beetbot especially on the computer application can extend the thinking capacity of everyone, teacher included!

Does it mean that if they learn to program the BeeBots, then their sense of direction would improve so much that they would never never never need to ask for travel directions again! Ever!
