20 /20 Cricket v Parkistan in Dubai

When the cricket comes to town, or close to where you live it becomes a MUST DO. So a group of 6 Kiwis went down to Dubai to support the Black Caps. We lost by 7 runs, so really a nail biter almost to the end.
What did I notice that was different to a cricket match in NZ:
No alcohol, and the crowd still had a really good night out
Although the seats ranged in price from 75 - 350 AED there was not a lot of difference in the seating, and where you sat around the ground
Running onto the pitch is an instant jail sentence, or in this case maybe deportation
The Parkistani people around us were appreciative we made the effort to come and support our team, and we had that cheerful banter when they scored or when we scored well
Walking back to the car wearing a large silver fern on the back of my T shirt received really positive comments. There was no negativity or put downs, only comments like NZ
So the whole crowd scene was a real positive
The game starting at 8pm was a real family affair. Grandad in front of us had his extended family there
The police have strong power/ respect amongst the crowd. At one stage some people dressed in Pink Energiser Bunny outfits were standing and cheering and the police came by and indicted the bunnies must sit.... passively
People causing trouble in the stands were taken out and led away, all 2 of them
There is very very little litter left behind, and the cleaners are walking around with large rubbish bags collecting food packaging as you finish.
Parking was a logistics nightmare. The stadium is in the middle of the desert and ongoing construction area.
The cheer leaders wore long pants under their skirts, and long sleeved tops.
They have huge screens, do close ups of the players, crowd, replays, statistics, ongoing information eg 24 runs needed from 16 balls
The whole experience was a fab night out, and one I'd like to repeat.
