Al Hayer Boys School town run
Yesterday was the annual run, at 8:30am for the primary school. 3kms back to school so most of our staff lined up to run with the boys, me included in my long black shirt. Can't show any ankles here. A few fathers ran with their boys, although parent participation at school events is not well patronised thing. Ibraham the PE teacher did it well. Buses to take the boys up the hill, and a wee way out towards the desert and the Oman Border, an ambulance,3 police landrovers and numerous other support vechiles of the non running fathers and staff. It's a road race really down the hill into the township. Coming down the hill was ok in the heat, but once we got on the flat it was a hard grind, however I'm pleased to say I finished around the middle of the field having run most of the way with Jeff our primary specialist. One poor very rotund teacher completed the course, like me, absolutely lathered in perspiration. Crossing the finishing line and the iced water a welcome relief in the 36 degree heat. What is the saying.....only mad dogs and........
