However the space directly below my balcony is the scene of activity today. Red squares have been sprayed on the rubble and men with plans are wandering around. Some men in boiler suits are breaking down stones while others sit on their haunches and watch. The Vietnamese have this incredible knack of squatting with their feet flat on the ground, and staying that way for ages. Europeans, like me, can squat but only on the tips of their toes. Try it.
I have been watching and the man breaking down the stones is actually hammering in spikes as marker pegs and new squares are being drawn. So whatever is on the plans are being transposed onto the ground.
