These shoes were made for walking

One last walk out in Sarejavo before we catch our flight to HCMC. Beside the guesthouse where we are staying is Markale Market, one of the few open air markets for fruit, flowers and vegetables. Across the street individuals set up little stalls as they did through the war selling produce. Markale Market was the scene of 2 mortar attacks killing  about 40 people each time. The red wall at the back of the market is a memorial wall.  The second attack in 1995 was the springboard for the UN to start bombing the Serb forces on the hills, for the Dayton Treaty and the end of the war. For me it's a lovely place to buy nice fresh fruit on a daily basis.

We then ambled around in suburbia Sarejavo and watched a large group of elderly men, watching various games of outdoor chess. Everyone seems to have an opinion and they talk out loud to whoever will listen as the game progresses.

Last stop was into one of the 2 malls I have seen. I have watched with fascination as the younger / middle aged women toddle over the cobbles wearing high heeled shoes. It must be hard to find the perfect pair of shoes. However  the shoe shops in the mall definitely were in the market for the perfect pair and colours galore to suit ones taste. And cheap at half the price!
