Yesterday I had spent the day at the sea, swimming, reading, watching boats, enjoying the sun and life around me. On arrival down the steps to the "beach" there we're numerous beach towels laid out perfectly on the rocks, and yet very few people around or enjoying the water. In Croatia laying out a beach towels claims your space at the water, absentee owners. At one time around me were 9 unclaimed unused perfect beach towels commandeering the best seaside real estate. I spent 5 hours at the beach and only as I was leaving did some of the towel's owners appear, to swim and claim their vantage position on the flat man made platforms. This procedure has happened before in other seaside areas, tents, towels and deck chairs laid out perfectly on sea shore prime real estate with absentee owners who arrive much later in the day and claim their vantage spots. Meanwhile the rest of us have been squatting in the not so desirable shore areas enjoying the water and the day with a mere small soggy towel or a book indicating our presence. They may have laid claim to the best spots, but we laid claim to the best time in the water. There's no pleasing some folks.

Towel parking meters might be an idea.
