Twice in as many days I have had the opportunity to eat Arabic food at school. On Sunday we had stuffed vine leaves which is quite a traditional dish. A cooked rice and tomato combination, sometimes including potato, is used as a stuffing. This combination is placed on vine leaves, which are rolled up and placed in a casserole type dish. topped with a thick layer of potato slices, wedges of lemon and lemon juice. These are cooked / steamed for about 45 minutes, enough time for vine leaves to soften and go a dark green colour. Lemon juice is sprinkled over the vine leaves and eaten either hot or cold. Delicious.
Today I also ate Arabic bread which is a few layers of very thin bread, a bit like filo pastry, cooked on a hot plate. The bread is sprinkled with zeta, a herb, and small lumps of labon, very much like feta cheese. The layers of bread are folded into small parcels and eaten hot and cold. The zeta and cheese provides a savoury salty taste, and are equally delicious.

One word: YUM!
I agree!
Yum? Hardly. Rather have fish'n chips or a T-bone steak. Or maybe a Camel stew. That food that Jocelyn is eating looks rather pallid.
