Over the trimester the Grade 4 and 5 girls have been plotting with co-ordinates, making tables, inserting pictures and working out what graphic sits on a particular co-ordinate. This week they got the opportunity to programme the BeeBots to move between pictures on co-ordinates on a floor map I had made. The floor map required the BeeBot to move forward 3 steps between one co-ordinate line and the next, so it took the girls a little while to fathom that one out. Although the teacher dominated the activity a bit too much some of the girls had heaps of fun programming the BeeBots. As you can see from the pics, the look of sheer horror and surprise on some of their little faces as this " creature" maneuvered towards them, with lights flashing was entertaining.

Some of us do not know what a BeeBot is. Does someone take care of it during the weekends, and does it eat honey or haycorns? Is it a him or a her?
This takes me back to LOGO and the Turtle way back late 1980s and early 1990s. We had a lot of fun programming that to go forward, backward, right turn etc. I remember the 5 years olds in my class estimating how many lengths of their fingertips-to-elbow it would travel when they programmed in FW50.
