School assembley

Every morning all schools have an assembley outside, so on wet days assembley is cancelled!

The boys line up in class lines, each person standing on a white dot placed in the cobblestones. Although its early March and winter is well behind us, the weather has been uncharacteristically cold over the last few days. The boys wear jackets and hats to assembley and sometimes into class. Today was also Al Sharheen day, so the army people were in to work with the Emirati boys.

The staff that come to assembely stand around the perimeter.

Sometimes the principal comes to assembley, sometimes not. Assembely is normally run by the guy from the physed dept or a chap from the Arabic faculity. However this morning the principal fronted up at school and at assembley and spoke to the boys.

Today at the boys school was an award assembley, an acknowledgement of the high achievers in each class. The boys were presented with a certificate and a gift of some kind.

On the scheme of things over here assemblies are pretty casual affairs. We do begin the day with the National Anthem, and a reading from the Quaran..... But other than that, no formal proceedings at all.
