Photography Workshop

Ali my secondary ICT teacher, and I have been teaching an ICT unit based around hobbies, and the boys presenting their hobbies. There have been a number of glitches with this unit, least of all ADEC are now threatening to have exams from Sunday 5 Dec to 16 Dec. This means the students will not be in school as we thought and we'll loose 2 weeks teaching time, the time we allocated for oral presentations.
However Ali has been quite excited by the hobbies unit and got talking to our previous principal who works at the Muncipality, sort of like our district concil, except they organise events more than anything. At our local Municpality is a UAE renown photographer, Saif. Soooo Ali organised for Saif to come into school today and work with a select group of boys. It wasn't a very hands on workshop, lots of talk and show, but even I learnt some new things. Its amazing that lots of ICT terms don't have an Arabic translation, so macro is macro, wide angle lens is wide angle lens and Google is Google. I thought the workshop was fabulous and really great that Ali orgnaised such an extra curricular activity for the students. I'd love to get a copy of one or two of Saif's photos taken out in the sand dunes.
Saif showed a couple of videos from Karl Taylor photograpgher. Check out his website. This was one of the video on light

Great Taylor video on light! Things known intuitively were expanded and coordinated. Great.
Ali's enthusiasm for the topic must have had an impact on the boys.
