We stopped work the other day and gathered around the sound system coming from an audio computer stream, to listen to the Melbourne Cup. Apart from our office sweepstake, from which I drew a couple of also ran ons,isn't that always the way, and our enthusiasm, things just didn't seem the same. Time wise it was 8:10 am, end of first period. We had no silly hats, no food, no drink in hand,no one went tot the TAB, no TV to watch it on, and not the endless re running and replays of the race with the step by step analysis of the winning jockeys tactics. On completion of the race we congratulated the winners and went back to our work. Briefly life was different.
