Today Madeleine, Alex and I drove down to Abu Dhabi to spend some time sight seeing and meet Gwen Gilmore. Gwen worked for Chch Coll of Ed in the Nelson Campus way back in 2000, 2001. She's been working in the UK for 8 years and has now taken on a position as a management advisor for Cognition in Abu Dhabi. Cognition is not my company, but is the NZ based operator in UAE. Gwen arrived about 3 weeks ago. On the way down in the car I was telling Madeleine about my Scottish cousins neighbour Patricia, who I met in during my holiday in the UK. Patricia's daughter Jacqline was due to take up a teaching position in Abu Dhabi in September. During our sight seeing mission we went to the Emirates Palace Hotel, the 7 star hotel. And you can guess the rest. As we walked passed the people enjoying coffee out of the crowd popped Patricia, Ewen her husband and Jacgline her daughter. Now what are the chances of that happening. To be honest we actually walked passed Patricia and Jacqline walking back to their seats, and she recognised me. They are here for 3 weeks warming up from a bitterly cold Scottish autumn, so possibly we'll catch up next weekend again.
Now Tom Cruise is also in Dubai filming the new Mission Impossible...... what do you reckon my chances of meeting him are?

Wow! There are over 6,000,000,000 people in the World. What are the odds of meeting a pair of Scots in Edinburgh then again in Abu Dhabi?
A bit odd like the English B&B host who on greeting us asked which country were we from.
He said "NZ? My good friends have gone to live in Geraldine NZ." And Geraldine is the town of my birthplace. Shrinking world.
