The room with the
view. The view from the room. Aka building work from my apartment balcony. Last
night some steel girders were delivered
however there seems to be very little notable progress in the last two weeks, although activity is
still as zealous as ever. Digging holes, steel wire pushed into the ground and
cubic meters of concrete poured into the random holes.
It is interesting
to note that when the building site was at its busiest during the nocturnal
hours with concrete trucks,
digging etc, huge concrete blocks and girders were delivered.
Subsequently these were stacked, restacked, unstacked and then taken away. Now
we have the girders back. An addition to the construction site is gallons and
gallons of water making the ground surface quite a quagmire. I watched one chap
wade, thigh high through the sludge. Possibly an unwelcome addition to the site
will be the onset of the wet season, which now seems quite imminent.
We are beginning
to get a dollop of heavy rain now every few days and the locals talk of the
imminent arrival of the wet season, which appears to be a little early.
Conversely we are also experiencing some very high humid temperatures. 38
degrees at 3:30 pm on Friday. Some
days the rain is welcome relief for me. I wonder how my friends below in the
midst of this construction feel?

I reckon they could whip up some fantastic mud pies down there. Perhaps they will soon need webbed feet!
