Trains to Napoli

As intrepid travellers do, we boarded our high speed train in Roma for Napoli. As per trains in Europe this one was no different with comfortable seating for 4 around tables, clean, and modern.  Monseigneur joined us at the last minute and apart from a bonjourno, good morning, and activity on his smartphone the clergy offered no other pearls of wisdom before being lulled to sleep by the steady rock of this fast moving train. In patches the train reached speeds of close to 300 km as we sped past the countryside.
The land is well farmed, either with crops, corn, maize, some grass and vegetables. Cows are kept in a yard and feed what we suspect was hay and other crops grown around the buildings. As in Denmark there is not the land to allow animal grazing as we do in NZ. Instead the land is in production and crops rotated.
We have been impressed with the train services. The cost is minimal, around the  E 1 mark for internal around the city travel. Train patronage is high. While we see plenty of cars we don't see garages, and the cars are parked on the streets, which can only accommodate so many. There are many small Smart cars and these can park in the smallest of spaces. Parking is a bit random with frequent double parks, all narrowing the street sizes. The train to Pompeii was E 5 return and took 37 minutes. So as far as shifting large volumes of people, cheap, frequently, on a service that runs to time Italy gets the big tick.
