Angie Parsons had talked to me about the rail ride on bikes from Le Vanto to Framure, so today we decided it was a must do. We caught the local train from Cornigila where we are staying on the Cinque Terra, to Le Vanto and hired bikes. From Le Vanto we biked around the sea front and then followed the cycle/ walk way following an old train route through the tunnels and around the coastline to Bonnasari and then on to Framure. With the sea below, meandering along, in and out of tunnels on a bike was such a pleasant way to fill in half a day. The whole seascape reminds me very much of Croatia, with the clear water, the huge rocks, and the steps down the rocks to the water edge. Apparently this coast line does have the most dramatic waves and crashing seas in a storm and is renown along the Mediterrain Coast.

Tomorrow the plan is to take the train right to Riomaggiore, at the far end of the Cinque Terra, and then catch a ferry to the other end Monterosso al Mare so that we can see all the tiny villages, perched on the cliff tops, from the water.

You are covering a lot of territory. We have a large scale road atlas of Europe which has many of the towns you mention but some smaller locations are not on the map. ( I am going crosseyed searching the index for places - and that's with a magnifying glass! ). What a great trip! We stayed near Gubbio many years ago. Love the place.
