I've been doing a photography unit with my Year 3 children in the An Phu Campus. We've been walking around the block, across to the secondary school and back to the primary school, capturing life on the street in our photos. An Phu is a quiet neighbourhood, filled mostly with expats living in residential compounds, their drivers and their large cars. However I realised that I should share the photos with you to give you a slight glimpse of life on the street around An Phu.
You have some small shops, some street food vendors, the bagette man delivering bagettes, a naval school complete with students ( those in blue) alterations, rubbish, street hawkers, drink vendors motorbikes, cyclists, repair men. Just an ordinary street in a very quiet residential neighbourhood in the middle of the day.
While you are watching, count the number of cigarettes you can see, including the sneaky one, beside the food, at the street vendors out let. Smoking in Vietnam is a real problem, cigarettes are cheap. You can buy singles for 2,000 VND, 4 cents US, 5 cents NZ cents, a packet for 40,000 VND $2 US. Enjoy
