International week in an International school

Our school acknowledges our cultural diversity, and encourages us to learn together, all through the year. However particular focus falls during international week where we celebrate our country and learn beside others.









 I worked with Tom, the only other Kiwi in our school, to provide some Kiwi type activities. Tom did  kicking the rubgy ball over the goal posts activity in our sports hall, looking splendid in his All Black gear. Schools in Vietnam do not have a large playing surface, let alone a green grassy space, and my TX Campus is typical. We have a small hard court asphalt area, hence the reason the goal posts were in the sports hall. My crafts for the children included cutting out sheep and creating the wool effect with glue and cotton wool, making a poi, or a friendship bracelet  with red white and black string. All the auxiliary staff stopped by to make friendship bracelets.



The teachers also work in Year groups and decorate rooms and corridors. Being a sole ICT teacher I had to rope in Tue my Vietnamese assistant, issue him with a temporary residency visa and get him helping. We made a huge map with language, pictures and a few facts.

The kids loved the sheep jokes I had pinned to my door or the wall behind my craft table, although some just didn't get the Kiwi humour?

What do you call a sheep covered in chocolate? A chocolate baaa? They didn't get it! Whats a baaa

Where does a sheep get his hair cut? At a baa baa shop. Even the parents didn't get it. Whats a baa baa shop.
