Having spent a previous post dishing the amount of time that is spent in doing productions in my school I am about to retract some of my comments and thoughts. Today I watched the combined performance of Year 3 and 4, 4 classes, performing Jack and the Beanstalk as a Christmas pantomime / production. The production wasn't true British pantomime but it was close with some audience interaction. The lines and lyrics had a definite British theme. And of course the children were fantastic, with the whole show moving along a quite a good pace. The show was definitely aimed at the family with bits for children and bits for adults.... While Jack has a bath so he doesn't smell , Kermit the frog and children sang and danced Rubber Ducky you're my bath time friend. Fabulous.
So why am I complimentary about this show and not so about the other.
Different campus. The TX campus has a different feel and is family orientated
Timing. This show was about 35 mins and was interactive, fun and gauged for a children's audience. The other show went on for 80 mins, so imagine the stream of chn going out to the loo.
Off / on timetable. These guys spent 2 weeks putting it together, and they stayed on timetable. No specialist lessons missed
My favourite words maximum participation. Lots of catchy songs, everyone had a role, and time on stage.
A great 35 mins being entertained.
