Television news last week featured an item on Lawrence, a town in Central Otago. Lawrence township has gone wireless, and the wireless is available to tourists, visitors and residents alike, free of charge. The plan is to encourage people to visit, stay and spend. The cost to the township $65 a month for the access. Lawrence also has a second string to it's plan. They allow tourists to call home free of charge from the Information Centre. This is proving so popular with busloads arriving daily. Read here for how they did it.
