A land of contrasts. RAIN

On Thursday we had about half an hour of rain which made driving to school a pain. The Emirates roads are not made for wet weather driving. When it does rain you need to be so careful as the roads are slippery, and the drivers so unaccustomed to this. Then of course is the limited visibility, and the windscreen wipers flicking backwards and forwards screeching as they move. The rubber no doubt has been cooked by 360 days of heat and direct sunlight. It must be so hard to drive your Range Rover over 200 k on a wet day! Today the rain has fallen steadily all day. Ian and I drove to Fujairah, the beach area for the day. The rain began gently around 9:00am as we were leaving and by 5:00pm on our return the roads were awash with surface flooding. So much for the trip to the beach. I've been here 120 days and it has rained 3 times, today most of the day!

Well, it might just keep the sand from blowing about for a short while. Relish the clean air while you can!
