I have found and used this new piece of software, so what? Its free, always a seller in my book, and its easy to use, another really good point. But what difference will all this make to children's learning?
Being able to capture images off the net, is a good beginning, without having to use third party options eg Flickr. Should we be capturing images off the net.... what about the copyright, and is it plagiarism ? Are there double standards here? Should we be doing some serious teaching here about intellectual property rights etc? The NZC has its values which "should be explored, modeled and encouraged". Perhaps that's what I am doing here.
Having the ability to capture the url links , that are live, with the images is a good feature, and a very quick and easy thing to do.
How can I justify using this.....
Pg 10 in Enabling 21 Century learners, discusses exploration, experimentation, thinking critically, reflection feed back, so here's your chance.
My thinking is that yes it is a useful tool to allow students to use weblinks and urls to support their learning in web based applications esp in an Inquiry or a presentation. Acknowledging sources will be fine. Quick and easy and its in there now moving on to the thinking / learning to support the image. It is after all the 21 Century and our students are using new tools. What about student voice? What do they think, they are after all, stake holders in this learning process. My thoughts, I'd be interested in yours.
