Electrical storm and flooding

Suddenly around 3:15 pm the sky got very dark and it wasn't long before the rain started with the accompanying lightening and thunder. The lightening flashes were very bright, and the thunder claps scareingly loud, overhead and reverberating through the school building. The rain just bucketed down. At 4:00 we leave school and catch the bus. Rushing outside, umbrella at full mast, the road is flooded and I am rushing through water ankle deep. In 30 minutes the road is flooded. My arm is saturated from trying to fold up my umbrella in a mater of moments standing on the bus steps. The bus travels slowly in the traffic. Not far from the school, the road is seriously flooded and coming up to the doorways of cars parked on the side of the street. Motorbikes struggle through. The water level has crept up over the footpath and is flooding into shops. The rain continues to bucket down. People roll up their trousers and wade through. All the traffic causes water waves to to lap even higher. In my time in Ho Chi Minh city I have not seen rain like this, or flooding like this. We've had so much rain lately the city must be saturated and the drainage system very inefficient. Across the bridge and into the centre of city, it has been raining but nowhere near as wet as District 2.
